Europe’s leading, biggest and oldest
Danforel is a privately owned limited liability company with about 140 employees. We are Europe’s leading, biggest and oldest producer of smoked trout fillet.
Since our founding in 1939, Danforel has strived to achieve the best possible quality in our products. This is why we maintain strict control of the entire process, from farming until the warm-smoked fish fillets are sent to the shops.
We can produce up to 120,000 consumer packs every day at our 15,000 m2 factory in Grindsted, Denmark. The majority comes from our own six aquaculture farms. All our fish is ASC certified for responsible farming.
Efficient production with dedicated personnel
We have shortened the process from live fish to finished product as far as possible, because fresh fish guarantees the best flavour, the healthiest products and the highest quality.
We attach great importance to a good working environment and a positive business culture. Danforel’s employees have impressive experience with us, especially when compared with the rest of the industry. At Danforel, we are working to give our employees variety at work and we continually develop our staff, giving them ongoing training.
Responsible for a good environment
At Danforel, nature is our living. We know that if we damage nature, we are destroying the basis for our own business. We are at home in Denmark, which has some of the world’s toughest environmental legislation and we go considerable lengths to minimise the environmental impacts of our production. At the same time, we produce clean and healthy products.
This involves using, circulating and returning the water in a clean and purified state. We have short transport times to the fish farms where we breed our trout. We attach importance to both a good working environment and low energy consumption in our production facilities. We use the whole fish and we deliver all sludges from farming to biogas production.
