Tightly controlled Danish aquaculture
Danforel assures the quality of our finished products by staying in control of the entire process. Our trout comes from Danish aquaculture; land-based fish farming. We raise fish from eggs to finished fish.
We breed most of our trout ourselves at our six aquaculture farms in Denmark. All farms are ASC certified.
All farms are located within an approx. one hour’s drive from our factory. This minimises the transport and CO2 emissions and makes our fish the best quality.
We have full traceability on our products.
No GMOs in our feed
All our feed contains no GMOs and the use of marine raw materials is derived from sustainable fisheries. Phosphorus content is extremely limited in relation to the Danish environmental legislation, thus protecting the environment.
Environmentally sound aquaculture
The fish are reared in water that is pumped up from the ground and perfectly pure.
Water recirculates 97 times and is rinsed constantly. Faecal matter is collected in large tanks and sent for use in the production of bio gas or green electricity.
This means that the water is completely clear and clean when we release it into a plant lagoon for draining.
Certifications
All our fish is ASC certified. This guarantees among other things that they are reared responsibly in relation to the surrounding environment, and in relation to animal feed and animal welfare. ASC certification is subject to strict controls. Our organic fish is also approved for both Danish and EU organic labelling.
